A care home nurse has been struck from the register after showing “blatant disregard” for the conditions of her practice. The Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) found Patsylin Palmer had worked 84 shifts over a significant period of time as the only registered nurse at Woodlands Manor Nursing Home in Bristol despite not being authorised to do so. The NMC concluded that Ms Palmer had deliberately misled the home and failed to disclose her interim conditions of practice order. She was further found to have misled the NMC when she confirmed that her job was compliant with her interim order on November 1 2016. Ms Palmer was found to have failed to discharge her responsibilities in the dispensing and administration of medication and placed patients at “unwarranted risk” through her actions. The NMC concluded: “The panel found that Ms Palmer’s actions did fall seriously short of the conduct and standards expected of a nurse and amounted to misconduct.

Inverclyde’s biggest housing association, River Clyde Homes, has a new board chair. Jillian Moffat was appointed at the annual general meeting following the retirement of Albert Henderson, who had held the position since 2015.

Grŵp Cynefin, a leading housing association for north and mid Wales, which manages approximately 4,800 homes, has appointed two non-executive directors to support its growth and development delivering social housing and community schemes. Clifton Robinson and Sharon Warnes join the Grŵp Cynefin board of management, which is responsible for the organisation’s strategic direction and governance, after distinguished careers in housing and local government respectively.

David Orr has been appointed chair of a for-profit provider, following his retirement as chief executive of the National Housing Federation (NHF). Mr Orr has been named chair of ReSI Housing, the housing association subsidiary of Residential Secure Income plc, a housing investment vehicle which is listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Four Seasons yesterday made governance changes which result in the Group now being led by independent Boards. Newly appointed to the Board of Directors are: David Edmonds and Iain Lynam.
