Voting for the next Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) vice president has officially opened as the two shortlisted candidates were revealed. James Strang, the chief executive of Parkhead Housing Association in Glasgow, and Paul Butterworth, partner and head of social housing at law firm TLT LLP, will now go head to head for the position.

Southern Area Hospice has announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive, Liz Cuddy, who will take up the position from Ann Cooney who is retiring from the role.

A man who was instrumental in setting up Broadacres Housing Association has announced his retirement as chief executive. Steve Towers will step down in August after 24 years in the role.

Four new NHS Shetland board members have been announced, just a week after the panel suffered a high-profile resignation. Lisa Ward, Natasha Cornick and Shona Manson will join the board for four years from 10th July, filling spaces left empty by Andy Glen, Catriona Waddington and most recently Tom Morton. The fourth appointment, Jane Haswell, will join the board for four years from 1st January. All four will earn £7,479 per annum, for one day work per week.

The Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation trust has announced that Peter Lewis will take over as its chief executive in September.

New Care has appointed Lorraine Disley as registered manager at The Hamptons Care Centre on Main Drive in St Annes.

A single mum has been spared jail despite admitting distributing an indecent video of a two-year-old girl and a man she was ‘disgusted’ by. Care worker Gloria Owusu was sent the video clip in May last year and sent it on to relatives and friends over the next eight months. Owusu also shared a picture of an eight-year-old girl standing naked in a field – but claimed she not did think this was indecent as ‘children often walk around naked’ in the village she was from in Ghana. The 45-year-old, who works part-time in a residential care home for the elderly, was arrested when she showed her colleague the video and it was seen by a visitor. She pleaded guilty to two offences of possessing and distributing indecent images but was spared jail after Judge Zoe Smith gave her a 10 month suspended sentence.

Scottish Ministers have announced the appointment of a new chair and three members to the Board of the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR). New chair George Walker will join the Regulator from July 1 alongside new Board members Siobhan White, Andrew Watson and Bob Gil. The Regulator’s current chair, Kay Blair, will retire in August.
