Sovereign Housing Association has appointed a new chief financial officer after the previous occupant of the role left for Clarion Housing Group. Rita Akushie will join the organisation on 15 October.

The man who oversaw the development of Cumbria’s flagship extra care housing schemes has stepped down from his role with a social landlord organisation. Henry Barker retired as chairman of Eden Housing Association, under its nine-year rule at its annual general meeting. He has been on the association board since 2011 having been taken on by chief executive at the time, Paul Davies.

Ruth Davison, executive director – public impact at the National Federation of Housing, has left the organisation to become chief executive at Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA).

A housing association with a Basingstoke base has appointed a new senior boss. Tom Norris has been appointed to the new role of chief operating officer at VIVID and will be joining the 30,000-home housing association, which has an office in Kingsclere Road.

Housing association Sanctuary Group has announced its group chief executive David Bennett is to retire at the end of the year. Mr Bennett joined the organisation in 1986 and has led it since 1991. Following a comprehensive recruitment exercise, the board has appointed Craig Moule, Sanctuary’s chief financial officer, as chief executive with effect from January 1, 2019.

North east social housing provider Bernicia has appointed the former head of property of Durhan Cathedral as its new chair. John Holmes joined the company’s board last year, and will help Bernicia with plans to launch £190m investment programme over the next few years.

A county housing association has announced four of its high-ranking managers have stepped down. Chief executive Peter Brown has retired from the association which was formed by the merging of Herefordshire Housing with Shropshire Housing Group. Connexus say they are also making other changes to management arrangements following resignations from Jake Berriman, Paul Sutton and Matthew Hill.
