A Hessle care home has appointed a new manager ahead of significant investment. Anita Gregory has been promoted to manager of The Hollies after a six year career with not-for-profit organisation Hica Group, and over 15 years in the care sector.

The new chairman of Warrington Housing Association (WHA) has been announced. Judith Winterbourne, who has worked in social housing for more than 30 years, took over the role last week after Paul Hammond stepped down from the board last year.

Two managers were guests at a House of Commons reception in recognition of their commitment to training at a Norfolk care home. Kirsty Holden, manager at Thorp House care home in Griston – run by Kingsley Healthcare – and operations manager Georgina Dennison were invited by the YMCA to the event which was hosted by Romsey and Southampton North MP Caroline Nokes.

A social worker with Kent County Council has been struck off the Health and Care Professions Council after being sacked for gross misconduct. Robert Atkinson, who worked as a specialist case manager working with older people in west Kent, was dismissed by the county council in October 2014 after being found to have fiddled his expenses. Now he has been kicked off the independent regulator which keeps a register for 16 different health and care professions. It only registers people who meet the standards it sets for their training, professional skills, behaviour and health.
