St Richard’s Hospice has revealed current Care Director June Patel is to become the charity’s Chief Executive at the end of May. Mrs Patel will take the helm following the retirement of Chief Executive Mark Jackson who is stepping down in May from his role after more than a decade at the helm.

Bhavna Emery-Jones has died from a brain tumor. She spent over 20 years of her life working in the care sector which culminated in her own health and social care consultancy, BJ & Associates Ltd. Bhavna also held director roles at HC-One, Priory Group and Bupa.

Nearly half of care staff (48 per cent) leave their jobs within a year of starting, with the social care sector replacing more than a third (36 per cent) of its nurses every year, a new report reveals.

Bosses at a scandal-hit care home used a self-employment sham to bring in illegal workers, it has been claimed. The Morleigh Group ran six homes in Cornwall which were exposed last year for “horrifying” levels of care. An investigation has revealed the group used recruitment agency Ucruitment to get workers from Croatia, who have restricted rights to work in the UK. The agency and the care home owners have denied any wrongdoing.

The managing director of a private equity-backed social housing contractor has become the latest executive to leave the business, which is emerging from a major restructure. Bolton-headquartered Forrest, which provides essential refurbishment and responsive maintenance services to the social housing market across the North of England, made about 30 redundancies as part of a restructuring to focus on growth markets. It also emerged that Lee McCarren had left his post as chief executive by “mutual agreement” in March. A newly filed directors’ report for Herbert T Forrest Ltd has now revealed that managing director Mark Lyons resigned as a director.

Ian Peters, the outgoing chair of housing association Family Mosaic, will join Barts Health Trust on April 1. He takes over from acting chair Alastair camp who will continue in his role as vice chair.
