Care UK has announced two senior appointments. The newly created operations director roles will report to chief operating officer Martin Friend who joined Care UK in January. Julia Bentley will take operational responsibility for services in Scotland and northern England. Phillip Steyn, currently a Regional Direction, has over 20 years’ experience with Care UK having joined as a team leader. He will take operational leadership for homes in the Midlands and the East of England.

A carer who started her career with Shropshire’s largest independent care provider has taken up the reins as manager of one of its homes. Sarah Evans is the new manager of Coverage Care’s Briarfields, a 43-bed home in Shrewsbury, which recently opened a new dedicated dementia unit for up to 12 people.

Anchor chief financial officer Sarah Jones will take over as chief executive from August, replacing long-serving boss Jane Ashcroft, the housing association has announced. The £528m-turnover retirement housing provider confirmed in a stock market announcement this morning that Ashcroft is standing down to focus on non-executive roles. Ashcroft said: “We’re focused on creating more and better homes where people can love living in later life. In recent years we have invested in our existing properties, grown through merger and acquisitions, issued our first sustainability bond and built a significant pipeline for further developments. The achievements of the past few years mean I feel the time is right for me to move on. I am looking forward to building a non-executive portfolio as the next stage of my career.”
