Lifelong carer, Peter Norman, has been appointed general manager at Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme after leading the dementia specialist care village through COVID-19.

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has today confirmed Peter Freeman as the new Chair of Homes England, the government’s housing delivery agency. The 3-year appointment follows a hearing by the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee, after which they endorsed his suitability for the role.

The chief executive of a 1,300-home housing association has been appointed as the long-awaited replacement third member of the Grenfell Inquiry panel. Ali Akbor is currently chief executive of Unity Homes and Enterprise.

Swale BC has named Larissa Reed as its new chief executive. Her appointment follows the death of previous chief executive Mark Radford in May after contracting Covid during a stay in hospital. Ms Reed, who is currently executive director of neighbourhoods and environment at Southend-on-Sea BC, was born in the borough and began her local government career at Swale Housing Association as housing officer manager. She was appointed following a national recruitment process which saw 18 candidates assessed, and is expected to take up the role in January 2021.

Dr Willie Mackie has been named as the new chair of hub South West Scotland Limited, succeeding John McClelland CBE. Mr McClelland, who has guided the construction hub over its seven years in operation in Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway, is retiring. His successor, Dr Mackie, is also the deputy chair of Scottish Enterprise and chair of its audit and risk committee.
