A carer defrauded an 81 year old woman using her bank card and used the money to buy lottery scratchcards and cigarettes. Barbara Twamley visited the victim’s home twice a day for 18 months as her carer working for Exeter based Guardian Care, a court was told. Twamley, aged 57, took the victim’s debit card and was seen on CCTV in various stores and supermarkets buying goods and cashback. Exeter magistrates court heard the victim received financial support from Age UK. The court adjourned sentence for a report but warned Twamley that all options were open to them, including custody.
